Framing an American Identity

1992
site-specific installation

Site-specific installation for the Alternative Museum.

"Created for the Museum's Artists of Conscience series this installation explores the ways racial violence and events from American history helped shape the Japanese American experience. Mass media images, racial stereotypes and community portraits were transferred directly onto plywood and glass as a way of physically reconstructing an Asian American identity."
