Commissioned by Asian Cinevision to commemorate the 25th Asian American Film Festival

"Motion Pictures is a piece about seeing and being seen. It evolved from discussions with ACV (Asian Cinevision) Director Angel Shaw about the relationship between visual arts and film. By designing a triptych, I've tried to capture the sweep of history which informs Asian American filmmakers and connects their films to the broadest spectrum of lived experience. The back and forth between foreground and background, between the present and the past, between real people and the magical world of the cinema, is the motion that breathes life to this piece and to the film it celebrates."
